Art Book Binding Workshop Thursday, February 22nd | 5-7pm Location: Port Angeles Fine Arts Center (in the Esther Webster Gallery) PAFAC Members $45 | General Public $55 Instructor: Gina Pisello 12 spots available | Ages 15+ Books are a compact way to store and share information, art, and ideas. In this workshop you will make and exchange art then learn how to bind it into a book form. This workshop coincides with the "Strong Together, An ArtistBook Collaborative" exhibition that will be on display in the Esther Webster Gallery from February 9- March 24, 2024. Part 1: Make art on 4 x 6 inch cardstock paper using collage materials, stamps and inks, etc. Exchange art with other participants. Part 2: Create an accordion binding and glue or tape your art cards to the spine to form a book. *All materials will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring any favorite scissors and any images or old magazines to collage with.* About the instructor: Gina Pisello is a book artist and paper engineer. Her work consists of original book structures, altered books, and paper sculptures. She explores themes of time, nature, and the ephemeral. She has taught book arts for 20 years, focusing mainly on book structures she has invented. Membership in groups such as San Diego Book Arts and Puget Sound Book Artists have given her opportunities to learn new skills and share discoveries with fellow artists. Her work has been accepted in exhibitions in San Diego County, University of Puget Sound, University of South Dakota, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and the University of Western England, Bristol among others. Her artist’s books are in several private collections as well as the University of Washington, University of South Dakota, and the University of Puget Sound special collections.
