Chasing the Light: A Photographic Journey into the Elwha with John Gussman Sunday, September 15th | 10am- 2pm *Please arrive by 9:45am for check-in $115 PAFAC Members | $125General Public During this professionally guided, fine art photography workshop, you will explore the art of seeing and photographer John Gussman will work with you to capture the vision you’re seeking to create. This workshop is a great opportunity to get in-the-moment feedback from a professional photographer and improve your nature/landscape photography skills. Beginning at the parking lot near Madison Falls, John will guide students through Olympic National Park into the Elwha Valley - an area with which John is intimately familiar. Distance and pace will largely depend on the group, as John says, “the slower you go, the more you see.” The journey is further enhanced by the professional guidance of Olympic Hiking Co., who will not only ensure a safe and fun hike but will also be available to answer questions about the area. Not long up this trail, you’ll be surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. The focus will be on tuning in to the feel of the valley and balancing technical skills, composition, and your unique artistic vision. John will work with each individual, providing feedback and guidance as you go; helping you to hone your own personal style. After the workshop, students are encouraged to edit their photos to their taste and then send their top ten images, as well as feedback, to John. He will post those images on a shared site after the workshop! Recommended: Some background knowledge of photography and editing is helpful, but not required. Bring whatever camera you have. Ideally a DSLR or Bridge camera would allow users the most versatility with their settings, but any camera is better than no camera! Attendees should bring: Hiking shoes Lunch, Snacks & Water Camera & Lenses *Tripod is highly recommended About the Instructor: www.dcproductions.com/bio
