DETAILS

THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN POSTPONED. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this workshop has been postponed. We expect to have a rescheduled date available soon. Thank you. Paste Paper and the Panorama Book @ Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. 4th St. Port Angeles, WA $75 Members / $80 General public Ages 16 + (must be able to work safely with sharp tools) This is a two day workshop with sessions on April 9th and 10th from 1:00pm-4:00pm each afternoon. On the first day participants will don aprons to do what is sometimes called “finger painting for adults”. Using wheat paste, acrylic paint and a little painting medium we will use a variety of applicators (comb, string, old credit card, bottle caps, sponges, anything that can produce a texture), we will move the paint mixture in thin layers around sheets of drawing paper and call upon our inner child. This will produce as many sheets of strong, decorative paper as you have time to delight in. We allow the paste paper to dry overnight. On the second day participants will behave with a little less abandon using sharp blades and making precision cuts. Skills demonstrated will be gluing like a book binder, accordion folding with or without a ruler and safety with sharp things. We will make a sample Panorama Book as designed by Hedi Kyle and use our Paste Paper to make the covers. If you google Panorama Book by Hedi Kyle, you will see that this is a very popular and versatile way to make anything from a photo display album to a true artist book. Once you have made your sample and understand the principles involved you can go off on your own track with your own collage elements, writings, photographs and more. The teacher will be there to help you analyze, test and give chase to your personal artist book goal.
