DETAILS

Or So It Would Seam: A Giant Puppet Tale for People of All Ages Performance by String & Shadow Thursday, August 22nd | 6-8PM Equal parts whimsical fairy tale, outer-space odyssey, and slap-stick clown show, “Or So It Would Seam” will follow the cosmic seamstresses of the planet Lupita who, among other things, weave the fabric of space-time. A sci-fi folktale populated with succulent moons and mountainous planets, “Or So” will take audiences out of this galaxy to contemplate the intricate and unexpected ways we are all connected to one another. This show will be filled to the brim with giant puppets, colorful stilt-walkers, original storytelling, and live music and feature a cast of 14 performers/musicians. About String and Shadow: String and Shadow is a theater company based in Olympia, Washington. Each summer, they create a giant outdoor touring puppet show that weaves together a variety of puppetry styles, circus arts, and original music. With copious amounts of cardboard, fabric, and paper-mache, String and Shadow's worlds of fantasy and fable aim to pluck at the strings of universal wonder, innocence, and joy. Formed in the summer of 2020 to bring a Drive-In puppet show to their community in lock-down, String and Shadow has gone on to create five original full length shows and to tour regionally and nationally in the United States. They are currently a company-in-residence at The Olympia Family Theater. Learn more about String and Shadow at: www.stringandshadow.com Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket, lawn chair and picnic down into the meadow. The performance will be outdoors. Ice cream will be available for purchase from Welly’s Ice Cream. Visitors may use the new accessible trail from the PAFAC parking lot for a more comfortable route to the meadow. Additional parking can be found along Lauridsen Blvd, at Franklin Elementary School, or the Peninsula College.
